‘Twilight’ High School Facade in Forks to be Destroyed

The brick facade of Quillayute Valley High School in Forks, Washington — the real-life version of the high school in Twilight — is about to disappear.

School officials had hoped to integrate the original building’s main doorway and front into the new campus set to replace the leaky, recently demolished school.

The tentative plan would have used the facade as a stand-alone entrance to the new building.

But in the construction proposal accepted on Friday, it was revealed that saving the facade would cost $271,000.

It will be destroyed.

“We would have considered a lower bid, but that’s over a quarter of a million dollars, and we can’t afford it,” said school board president Bill Rohde.

What had been for locals a beloved place of learning that dates from the 1920s became in recent years a tourist destination for Twilight fans who wanted to photograph the place where Bella Swan and Edward Cullen (played by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the movies) first meet.

Fox to Distribute Timur Bekmambetov’s 3D Adaptation of ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER

20th Century Fox has picked up the rights to Timur Bekmambetov’s 3D adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The novel’s premise is that Grahame-Smith (who also wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) found Lincoln’s secret diary which chronicled the 16th President’s fight against the undead. Bekmambetov (who previously directed Wanted) and Tim Burton picked up the producing rights to the book back in March, and Bekmambetov said he was coming on board to direct in August.

According to Variety, Fox made a grand overture to win the rights to the project, with such showmanship touches as bloody footprints and a bugle player with a Confederate uniform playing “Taps.” Vampire Hunter’s budget is projected at $69 million and pre-production is scheduled to begin immediately for a 2012 release. 10 More Films That Define This Generation? #2 Twilight

Every other review and movie site has made some sort of reference to “The Social Network” being a film that defines this generation. Some are arguing against the claim, but it’s still an idea that’s out there on people’s minds. Having finally seen the Facebook-origins tale, I’m more in agreement that it is very representative and reflective of at least the zeitgeist of the group known as the Generation Y (aka the Millennials, Generation Next, the Net Generation, and the Echo Boomers). It’s hard to say why without insulting an entire population of Americans born over a fifteen year period, so let’s just say it gets that group of people who grew up with the Internet, social media and a dwindling concern for and interest in privacy.

But what do we mean when we say something defines a generation? What makes “Rebel Without a Cause,” and “The Breakfast Club” define their generations? Is it something that is marked by the people or something that marks them? Is it something that best exemplifies or best interprets or best generalizes? I believe it should be something popular, but not something too popular. In an attempt to figure it out, I’ve come up with a list of other possible films that define this generation. I should note that I am not a member of this generation, so I very well could have it pegged all wrong. Please do correct me wherever applicable.

2. “Twilight” (2008)

There may not have been the “Twilight” movies without the prior success of the “Harry Potter” series, but there’s just no leaving it off this list. It's her size-6 feet -- not her hands -- that land her most of her modeling gigs. Her tootsies have graced a Times Square billboard and the cover of magazines, she said.
"I never see myself as having perfect hands," she explained. "I guess I'm just lucky that they photograph well."
Hickey's agent, Danielle Korwin, said her hands are in demand because they are "veinless" -- not the sort of hands a vampire would like.
The 2004 photo shoot for the "Twilight" book cover paid $300 -- the industry standard for two hours of work. Hickey had to file her nails extra short so her tiny hands didn't look like an adult's.
Lately, she's been going to "Twilight" fan conventions -- she's at one this weekend in Portland, Ore. -- where she sells apple-scented hand lotion.
So far, she knows of four "Twihards" -- as the vampire-romance fans are called -- who've gotten tattoos of her hands.
Her goal is to break into acting. She's trying to contact the casting director for the fourth installment in the "Twilight" series.

I do not know how to begin ... The latest pictures of Jackson Rathbone me slyly smooth the language! Otherwise, better known as the Twilight vampire struggled with facial expression, he has recently with his band "100 monkeys" rockin 'on a charity event in Las Vegas. What a show! What kind of pictures! What a man!

That such a wild rocker in the gentle soul actor, I would not have thought possible. Even though I know the band for quite some time, was not clear to me how the leave on the stage.
