Lily Allen In Hospital Following Blood Infection

Lily Allen is in hospital battling a serious blood-poisoning illness.

Lily Allen's illness comes just days after she suffered a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy. She was expecting with her partner Sam Cooper.

The 25-year-old had been at her home in Gloucestershire, but was yesterday taken to hospital by ambulance.

Yesterday, she wrote on twitter: ‘I’m still very sick but the messages are helping me to be stronger. Thank you x x.’

She added: ‘Thank you for all your kind messages.’

The star has caught septicaemia, a potentially-lethal infection of the blood.

The illness causes almost 15,000 deaths a year, and can lead to organ failure.

This is Lily's second miscarriage. Her first one was in 2008 when dating Chemical Brothers DJ Ed Simons.

Following her second miscarriage, Myleene Klass, Emma Bunton and Denise Van Outen sent her messages of support.
